About the company

Lord Elliott was refereeing a powerlifting competition analyzing athlete’s movements and had a thought of improving their technique and performance. He started to put together a technique and coaching manual but didn’t want to duplicate what was already available on the market. He searched for a specialist to assist in completing a coach’s manual specifically to improve biomechanical movement based on scientific research. Lord Elliott came across Tom DeLong and met with him a few weeks later to discuss the vision and surprisingly we shared the same vision. After a year of research and development National Academy of Strength and Power was launched in 2013 to educate coaches in the sport of Powerlifting online.

In the summer of 2014 the United States Powerlifting Association (USPA) partnered with NASPower and redesigned the education system to instruct live seminar training courses certifying coaches in the USPA with Tom DeLong as the Lead Instructor. After a few seminars this program became highly sought after across the United States within the organization.  At the 2014 Mr. Olympia in Las Vegas, NV Lord was managing the USPA Coaches Certification booth and met Wendy Soto and Veronica Sandoval, owners of Next Step CrossFit, inquiring to coach powerlifting at their CrossFit Gym. After a short discussion we found out we reside a few miles from each other and we share friends.

The following month Wendy became certified as a USPA Powerlifting Coach and started their powerlifting program. The following months they embraced the sport and hosted their first powerlifting championship and USPA Coaches Certification Course to certify more of their coaches. In the summer of 2015, after the successful growth of powerlifting in the community, Lord suggested the idea of a strength and power training center within an area of their facility to produce a product in Bakersfield, CA has never experienced. National Academy of Strength and Power and Next Step CrossFit joined forces September 2015 creating the first training and competition center in Bakersfield, CA.
